Series 2 Episode 7: The Idiot's Lantern

Summary:
Once again, the Doctor and Rose land somewhere where they didn't want to go. It's the day before the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II but when the Doctor looks around, he wonders about the many TV antennas on the roofs and that nearly every household has a TV. It gets even weirder when Rose an the Doctor discover that there are people without faces. Rose and the Doctor split up and Rose finds the alien life form, which is called the Wire, in a TV shop. She looses her face as well and now the Doctor tries everything to save her. The Wire wants to use the energy of the people watching the Coronation to get a physical body again. Is the Doctor able to stop the alien?

This episode is a stand-alone episode after the last two-parter. The only thing I find a bit strange is that Rose is so happy again after they have left Mickey behind in the parallel universe. Maybe it's just her way of dealing with it. That's a bit like the Doctor, never look back because it can hurt. Well, back to this episode. I really liked it and the Wire is a great villain. They have managed to capture the time perfectly and it's cool that Rose finds the answer before the Doctor. That shows again that they are a great team and work well together. I always love the psychic paper and it sometimes shows so strange things to other people. Always god for a laugh. All in all a good episode that lets you calm down a bit before the next two-parter in this series.
