Special: The End of Time, Part Two
Summary:
The Master is able to capture the Doctor and Wilfred and when Donna calls her grandfather, he wonders why there is still someone that is not him. When the Master sends his copies after her, he isn't able to kill her because the Doctor has left her with a defence mechanism. The Master discovers that the drumbeat in his head comes from across time but before he can explore that further, Wilfred and the Doctor are rescued by Rossiter and Addams. They take them onto their ship which is in orbit around Earth but the Doctor stops them from leaving. After a broadcast from the Master, who tells them that he found a White-Point Star and that he wants to bring back the Time Lords, the Doctor repairs the ship and races back to Earth. He is too late though and the council of the Time Lords is already on Earth. When the Master tries to take over the Time Lords, Rassilon turns everyone on Earth back to human and suddenly Gallifrey appears in the sky. Wilfred tries to help and releases a man from the control booth but is trapped in there now himself. The Doctor tries to decide whom he shall kill to break the link of the Time Lords to Earth but when he sees his mother he destroys the White-Point Star instead and Gallifrey returns into the Time Lock. Rassilon wants to kill the Doctor but the Master saves his life. When the Doctor thinks everything is over he sees Wilfred in the chamber that will be flooded with radiation any second and he just can't let him die. And so the song of the Tenth Doctor ends.
This episode is a great ending for the Tenth Doctor and it's sad and funny at the same time. We finally know what the drumbeats in the Master's head are and that they were planted there by the Time Lords to bring them back to life. The scene when the Doctor can't decide whom he should kill to save the Earth is a great one and then he has the chance to see his long lost mother again who shows him the solution of his dilemma. I wouldn't have thought that the Master would save the Doctor but I guess that shows that there was still some of the friendship left from their childhood. The scenes between the Doctor and Wilfred are so moving and you just know that the Doctor wouldn't be able to let Wilfred die. When the Doctor says goodbye to all of his friends and companions, you can't help it and be sad but smile a little bit at the same time. Then there are the last words of the Tenth Doctor before he regenerates which make everything worse and then you have this knew Doctor who makes you almost laugh and look forward to knew adventures. A brilliant end for David Tennant's Doctor and a great start for Matt Smith.

Special: The End of Time, Part One
Summary:
The Doctor has delayed his visit to the Ood and now wonders why they have advanced so fast. The Ood tell him that the Master will return to Earth but there something much worse returning in his wake. After hearing that, the Doctor races back to Earth but he is too late to stop the resurrection of the Master. Meanwhile, Wilfred is searching for the Doctor and gets help from some of his friends. They find him while he hunts the Master, who is a homeless now. The Doctor and Wilfred start to talk and Wilfred begs the Doctor to talk to Donna who is just outside the café. When the Doctor says he can't do it or she'll die, Wilfred is sad but then the Doctor suddenly tells him that he will die soon and that he has to stop the Master. They part and the Doctor searches the Master. He finds him and the Master lets him hear the drums in his head before he gets kidnapped. Together with Wilfred the Doctor follows the trail of the Master but what does he want with the medical arc?
"The End of Time" is the first part of the Tenth Doctor's final moments. The episode has many funny but also many heartbreaking moments. It's so sad to see the feelings on the Doctor's face when he watches Donna from afar but he can't talk to her and when he tells Wilfred that he will die soon. This is just heartbreaking and makes it even harder to think about the imminent regeneration of the Doctor. On the other hand, it's brilliant that they have brought the Master back as the last foe of Ten. Their relationship is always one that lies somewhere between hate and love because they know each other so well. It's quite creepy when the Master takes over the human race and you can see this insane guy dressed in different clothes all over the world. That's something that you wouldn't want to happen in reality. Having Wilfred as a companion in this episode is so lovely because he brings so much fun into this dark episode and the Doctor needs someone like him by his side in his last days. Oh, and with a cliffhanger like this, you just can't wait for the next part to happen.

Series 4 Episode 13: Journey's End
Summary:
The Doctor heals his body but is able to put the rest of his regeneration energy into his hand, so he doesn't change into another person. The Daleks find the Tardis and bring it to their ship. With everyone out of the Tardis except Donna, the Daleks try to destroy it. But when Donna touches the Doctor's hand a human version of him grows out of it and saves the Tardis from destruction. Martha has reached Germany and activates one of the Osterhagen stations. Sarah Jane, Mickey and Jackie are on board the Dalek ship and are barely able to escape the Reality bomb. There they meet Jack and try to destroy the Daleks. But the Daleks are able to bring all of them to the vault. They haven't expected to see the human Doctor and Donna appear out of nowhere and suddenly Donna turns into a human Time Lord. Together they manage to defeat the Daleks and bring all the planets home. The human Doctor destroys all the Daleks, a thing the Doctor wouldn't have done. After the Earth is at it's normal place, the Doctor says goodbye to his companions and leaves the human Doctor with Rose in the parallel world. Is there a future for him and Donna?
This is such a beautiful and, at the same time, sad ending for a series. We have all of the (mostly new) companions of the Doctor in one episode and we even have a human Doctor that grew out of Ten's hand. I Don't think that Davros is right that the Doctor has turned his companions into weapons because the creator of the Daleks just doesn't know what people do for each other when they love someone. It was a great surprise that Dalek Caan helped the Doctor and that he was the one who brought Donna to all the right places, so she was able to save the universe. It's so cool to finally see why Donna is so special and she makes a great Time Lord. Then there are the sad goodbye scenes where all the companions leave the Doctor and get back to their own lives. Rose now has a chance to grow old with the human Doctor but it's sad nonetheless that we probably won't see her again. The most heartbreaking moment is when the Doctor has to take away Donna's memories because she would die otherwise and now he has to travel alone once more.

Series 4 Episode 12: The Stolen Earth
Summary:
Donna and the Doctor land on Earth but everything seems to be perfectly normal. Suddenly there is something like an earthquake and when the Doctor looks outside the doors of the Tardis, the Earth is gone. It has been moved to a place unknown to the Doctor. To find it again, he seeks out the Shadow Proclamation with Donna to ask for help. Meanwhile on Earth, the people are terrified because there are suddenly strange planets in the sky and they don't know why. UNIT, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Smith try to find out what has happened when their darkest fears come back in form of the Daleks. Martha tries to call the Doctor but he doesn't respond and when the Daleks attack she manages to return to the UK with an experimental teleportation device. Harriet Jones brings Sarah Jane, Torchwood and Martha together and together they try to call the Doctor with the sub-wave network. The Doctor and Donna have received useful information at the Shadow Proclamation and are now in the Medusa Cascade but there is no trace of the missing planets. When the Doctor gets a call, he is able to link to the signal which brings him into the same time with the missing planets. Will he and his friends be able to defeat the Daleks?
I really think this is a great opener for the series finale. It just has such a mean cliffhanger that you have to watch the next episode when you want to know what happens. It's great that all of the companions of the Doctor fight together to defeat the Daleks and you wouldn't have expected that this would happen. That was a big surprise when they all appeared one after the other and there is even Harriet Jones one of my favourite characters although this is her last appearance on Doctor Who. The Daleks are always a good enemy for a series finale and with the return of Davros, the creator of the Daleks is back again. With the Earth under attack, the companions ready to fight for their lives and the tragic meeting of Rose and the Doctor, the story just begins. There will definitely be some great surprises in the last episode of series 4.

Series 4 Episode 11: Turn Left
Summary:
Donna and the Doctor visit a planet with a Chinese market where a woman tells Donna her future. Although it seems that she is more interested in Donna's past and suddenly a strange creature jumps onto Donna's back and changes everything. When Donna turns right instead of left and takes the job as a secretary in a copy shop the world changes around her. At Christmas, the star in the sky is destroyed but a man called the Doctor is killed and from there on everything goes wrong. The defenders of the Earth die one after the other, while they try to save the people on Earth from alien attacks. Every time an event like this happens a strange blonde woman appears in Donna's life and she seems to know her. When the darkness comes and the stars go out, Donna decides to help her and travels back in time to stop her younger self from turning right at the crossing. Only then she sees that there is only one possibility to change the fate of the world. Will she be able to save the world and give the Doctor the message of the mysterious woman?
"Turn Left" is the first part of the big finale of series four. Compared to the episode "Midnight" this is a Doctor-light episode where we don't see much of the Doctor but everything is about Donna and her decisions in life. I think this is a great episode and it shows what Donna means for the Doctor and how she has changed his life. Without her, he wouldn't have survived the attack of the Racnoss and the Earth would be in big trouble without him. The Doctor doesn't feel so important sometimes because he is just one man but the things he does change many lifes. It is strange that Donna feels so worthless but she is really one of the most important persons on Earth because one of her decisions has changed everything. It's really good to see Rose again and the next two episodes will be big.

Series 4 Episode 10: Midnight
Summary:
The Doctor and Donna are on the planet Midnight. Donna just wants to relax, so the Doctor takes the tour to the Sapphire Waterfalls on his own. On the four hour drive he gets to know the people he is travelling with a bit better but suddenly everything changes when their wagon stops. When the Doctor talks to the driver, he can't really find a reason why and then suddenly the knocking starts. There is no known living thing on the planet that can survive the radiation but suddenly something gets into one of the passengers and takes over her body. The being starts to copy everyone and the Doctor knows that it's learning to speak. While the other passengers want to kill the being, the Doctor tries everything to stop them. Soon the others think that the being jumped over into the body of the Doctor and then they want to throw him out of the wagon. The hostess is the only one who sees that the strange being is still inside the woman and not the Doctor and she gives her life to save the others.
This is one of the companion light episodes where we don't see a lot of Donna but more of the Doctor. In my eyes, that's an interesting change from time to time because we can watch the Doctor interact with other people in the absence of his companion. The behaviour of the people reflects how real people would react to something they don't know, something they are afraid of. Not all people would react this way but there are enough who would ad I think this episode shows us a bit about ourselves. The acting is really brilliant, especially when the Doctor and the being speak at exactly the same time. It's also interesting that everything happens in such a small space which leads to more extreme reaction from the people. The ending is quite sad when the hostess saves everyone and nobody has known her name. This episode was something for in between the River Song episodes and the big finale of series 4.

Series 4 Episode 9: Forest of the Dead
Summary:
The Doctor, River and her team are chased through the library by the shadows and they don't know if they will be able to escape them. One after the other becomes the victim of an attack of the Vashta Nerada. Meanwhile, Donna is trapped in a virtual world and can't remember the Doctor. There she has a husband and children but something about this world is strange. When she talks to the ghost of Miss Evangelista, she sees that nothing is real but she doesn't want to give up her family. The Doctor has discovered how the Vashta Nerada came into the library and he can't believe that he hasn't thought of it before. When he and the others reach the data core of the library, he is a bit shocked to see that it's the conciousness of a little girl that controls everything. The self-destruction is turned on suddenly and nobody can turn it off. Will the Doctor find a solution to save everybody?
The Vashta Nerada are a great enemy for the Doctor and he really needs some time to find out how they came into the library. I like that he still tries to talk to them even though they kill everyone in mere seconds when they can reach them. He is just not someone who can kill easily and I think that's a good character trait. The story line with Donna is interesting as well. She somehow knows that something is wrong but she doesn't want to believe it because she is happy with her family and doesn't want to loose them. You somehow knew that the little girl had something to do with the library but I wouldn't have thought that she controlled it or that it is her home. The scene between the Doctor and River is so heartbreaking although he doesn't know her yet, there is this connection and I'm glad that he was able to save her in the end. I think this episode brings the story to a good end.

Series 4 Episode 8: Silence in the Library
Summary:
The Doctor and Donna land on a planet that's a huge library. They wonder why nobody is there and when they ask a courtesy node, they find out that the library is locked. The node gives them a warning as well: "Count the shadows". Suddenly the lights go out and the Doctor and Donna run into a small shop with a sky light where they seem to be save from the shadows. Then other people arrive, which turn out to be archaeologists. With them is Professor River Song, who seems to know the Doctor but he doesn't know her. That is a bit of a shock for River but soon she has no time to think about it because the Doctor has found out what's hiding in the shadows. It's the Vashta Nerada, a small, flesh-eating alien race. They start to kill the members of the expedition and the Doctor tries to find a way out of the library. There is also the mystery of the little girl who thinks the library is a thing of her imagination and is really upset when suddenly people are in there. What will happen next?
I really like this episode although it's one of the scarier ones. It marks the first episode of River Song but at this time she's still a mystery to all of us. Alex Kingston plays her brilliantly and her interactions with David Tennant's Doctor are great as well. The Doctor doesn't know who she is but somehow he knows that he can trust her. It's so sad when Donna talks to the dead girl and tries to calm her down until the rest of her conciousness is gone. That's one of the saddest moments Donna is in. The Vashta Nerada are very scary aliens because you can't really see them and they can kill you in an instant. They've been in the library for such a long time already and they have learned to adapt to it and they are very hungry. This first episode of the two-parter is brilliantly written by Steven Moffat and you can just hope that everything will end in a good way.

That is a bit of a shock for River but soon she has no time to think about it because the Doctor has found out what's hiding in the shadows. It's the Vashta Nerada, a small, flesh-eating alien race. They start to kill the members of the expedition and the Doctor tries to find a way out of the library. There is also the mystery of the little girl who thinks the library is a thing of her imagination and is really upset when suddenly people are in there. What will happen next?
I really like this episode although it's one of the scarier ones. It marks the first episode of River Song but at this time she's still a mystery to all of us. Alex Kingston plays her brilliantly and her interactions with David Tennant's Doctor are great as well. The Doctor doesn't know who she is but somehow he knows that he can trust her. It's so sad when Donna talks to the dead girl and tries to calm her down until the rest of her conciousness is gone. That's one of the saddest moments Donna is in. The Vashta Nerada are very scary aliens because you can't really see them and they can kill you in an instant. They've been in the library for such a long time already and they have learned to adapt to it and they are very hungry. This first episode of the two-parter is brilliantly written by Steven Moffat and you can just hope that everything will end in a good way.

Series 4 Episode 7: The Unicorn and the Wasp
Summary:
Donna and the Doctor invite themselves to a garden party in England in 1926. They are delighted when they find out that Agatha Christie is a guest as well. The festivities are soon disturbed by a murder in the library but who is the killer? It has to bee someone from the party guests and so the Doctor and Donna help Agatha to investigate. After a while, it looks more and more like they are all in one of Agatha's books and there is even someone who tries to kill the Doctor but he's not so easy to kill and survives the attack. Everything seems to be linked to one locked room in the manor and soon Donna faces a giant wasp that tries to kill her. Will they be able to solve the mystery and save the people in the house?
I think this is a great episode, not only because I like Agatha Christie but also because it is really funny despite the murders. Some events from the past are mentioned as well, like when Donna asks if Charles Dickens was surrounded by ghosts on Christmas. We all know that this happened before. I really love the scene between Donna and the Doctor in the kitchen when he tries to get the poison out of his body. It's just brilliantly played and it was definitely a shock when for the Doctor when Donna kissed him. I like the way they used Agatha's lost ten days in this episode and that not everything is fictional in the episodes. The giant wasp was a bit scary especially when you didn't know what killed all the people. All in all, a great stand-alone episode.

Series 4 Episode 6: The Doctor's Daughter
Summary:
The Tardis brings the Doctor, Donna and Martha to the planet Messaline. There they meet some human soldiers who take a tissue sample of the Doctor and grow a new soldier from his DNA in seconds. The Doctor doesn't know what to say when he meets his daughter for the first time. When the Hath arrive, a race the humans fight against, Jenny, the Doctor's daughter, activates a detonation and Martha ends up on the side of the Hath when the tunnel collapses. Donna and the Doctor are brought to General Cobb, the leader of the humans, and he tells them that this war is going on for generations. They are searching for the Source, a weapon that shall help them to defeat the Hath. The Doctor, Donna and Jenny try to reach the Source before the General and hope to avoid a war this way. When they've reached the rocket the humans and Hath came with they meet Martha again. Soon it becomes clear that the ship arrived on the planet just seven days ago but will this knowledge help the Doctor to stop the killing?
I think it's great to have Martha in another episode with Donna and the Doctor but others may see this differently. I just like her character and the things she adds to the show. She is just someone who wants to help people and she is not afraid to help when there is an injured alien in front of her. Donna is often like a conscience for the Doctor and helps him to see thing differently in her own special way. I really liked the idea of the Doctor having a daughter and it's so sad to see him loosing her again in the end. Well, he doesn't know that she is still alive though and I haven't given up the hope that we will see Jenny again in another episode. That would be really cool. It seems that the humans and Hath will work together now and I think that's a good ending to this story. At the same time it was sad to see Martha leave again but we still have Donna, so onwards to the next adventure.
