Summary:
Clara phones the Doctor because she needs a date for her family Christmas dinner. When he's finally there, Clara asks him to help her with the turkey and they go off in the Tardis. The Doctor is interested in a planet from which a signal is sent through the whole universe and all the foes of the Doctor are there. His old friend Tasha Lem brings him and Clara down onto the planet and they arrive in a town called Christmas. They soon find out, that the signal comes from the Time Lords and the Doctor only has to speak his name and they would come back. The only thing is, that he can't bring them back because the planet the Doctor is on is Trenzalore and the Time War would break out again. The Doctor sends Clara away to keep her save and guards the planet for centuries. When his end is near, Tasha brings Clara back and she begs the Time Lords to help the Doctor. Will they do what she's asking for?
This was another brilliant Doctor Who Christmas episode and I liked how Steven Moffat explained so many loose story ends concerning the silence, the Time Lords and the crack in the wall. Although this episode has many funny moments like the one with the turkey or when the Doctor suddenly has no hair anymore but it's also very sad. For me it had a sad touch all the time because it's the last episode of the Eleventh Doctor and it kind of broke your heart to see him age like this. The Doctor gave us the explanation about his regenerations and that he doesn't have one left, so this is his last face. Luckily Clara's speech meant something to the Time Lords and we have still more episodes to come. All in all, this was a great Christmas episode, although some of the ones before were more Christmassy than this one. Really worth to watch.

50th Special: The Day of the Doctor
Summary:
It's the last day of the Time War and everything seems to be lost. The War Doctor steals a deadly weapon and tries to destroy Gallifrey but the weapon has a conciousness and shows him his future. This brings him together with his Tenth and Eleventh incarnation who are trying to save Earth from the Zygons. During the time of Elizabeth the First, the Zygons enter paintings that are like stasis cubes and so they have time to wait until Earth is more advanced. Elizabeth helps the Doctors to get back into the present and there they are confronted with two versions of Kate Stewart. The real one would destroy Earth to save all the other people from the Zygons but the Doctors wipe their memory so nobody knows who's a Zygon and who isn't. The War Doctor has seen enough and is willing to destroy Gallifrey for the future he has seen but this time he is joined by two of his other incarnations. Will they do it again or will the Doctors change their own past?
What came into my mind when I first watched this episode was "wow". It was just totally brilliant and I loved it. I still love it after watching it a second and a third time. You still pick up so many details that you haven't seen on the first go. I don't want to say too much because there are probably still some people out there who haven't seen the episode yet. The little nods to the past of Doctor Who were lovely and I liked Billie Pipers role a lot even if she didn't come back as expected. There were so many funny moments between the Doctors and I loved the scenes with the fez. It made me smile. The ending was just totally amazing and I wouldn't have expected that. This was truly a celebration of 50 years of Doctor Who and I'm looking forward to the next 50 years.

The Day of the Doctor
The 50th anniversary special was so amazing that I had to watch it a second time right after the live screening. Here are just my first thoughts because I guess I have to watch the episode again to write a proper review.
The dynamic between the different Doctors was brilliant and the episode had some surprise appearances as well. There were some nods to classic Doctor Who as well which I really liked, although I haven't seen lots of these Doctors.
I can't say much more than that I totally loved the episode.

Special: The End of Time, Part One
Summary:
The Doctor has delayed his visit to the Ood and now wonders why they have advanced so fast. The Ood tell him that the Master will return to Earth but there something much worse returning in his wake. After hearing that, the Doctor races back to Earth but he is too late to stop the resurrection of the Master. Meanwhile, Wilfred is searching for the Doctor and gets help from some of his friends. They find him while he hunts the Master, who is a homeless now. The Doctor and Wilfred start to talk and Wilfred begs the Doctor to talk to Donna who is just outside the café. When the Doctor says he can't do it or she'll die, Wilfred is sad but then the Doctor suddenly tells him that he will die soon and that he has to stop the Master. They part and the Doctor searches the Master. He finds him and the Master lets him hear the drums in his head before he gets kidnapped. Together with Wilfred the Doctor follows the trail of the Master but what does he want with the medical arc?
"The End of Time" is the first part of the Tenth Doctor's final moments. The episode has many funny but also many heartbreaking moments. It's so sad to see the feelings on the Doctor's face when he watches Donna from afar but he can't talk to her and when he tells Wilfred that he will die soon. This is just heartbreaking and makes it even harder to think about the imminent regeneration of the Doctor. On the other hand, it's brilliant that they have brought the Master back as the last foe of Ten. Their relationship is always one that lies somewhere between hate and love because they know each other so well. It's quite creepy when the Master takes over the human race and you can see this insane guy dressed in different clothes all over the world. That's something that you wouldn't want to happen in reality. Having Wilfred as a companion in this episode is so lovely because he brings so much fun into this dark episode and the Doctor needs someone like him by his side in his last days. Oh, and with a cliffhanger like this, you just can't wait for the next part to happen.

Special: The Waters of Mars
Summary:
The Doctor travels alone to Mars to have a look at the red planet. Then he sees a base of the humans and is forced to enter it by a robot. Inside, he soon recognises the people who live there and when he asks for the exact date, the Doctor knows that he shouldn't been there. He is at a fixed point in time and he can't do anything to help the people. When some of the crew are turned into a kind of water monster, the Doctor helps Adelaide to investigate. They soon find out that nobody should touch the water and that the flood had been dormant in the glacier beneath the station. Adelaide and her crew pack their things and try to leave the station but more of them are turned into monsters. The Doctor leaves them there to die and he can listen to their cries when the rocket is destroyed and they have no way to escape. Just then, the Doctor decides that it's enough and that he doesn't care about the rules of time anymore. He returns to the base and saves the rest of the living humans but will there be a happy ending?
This special is my least favourite one of the Tenth Doctor specials after series 4. Maybe that's because I don't like how he changes into this arrogant being, who thinks most humans aren't important. He thinks, he is like a god and that no one can stop him. That's a Doctor I don't really like and I hope we won't see him like that again any time soon. In the end he finds back to himself although at a great cost and we now know that his end is near. Back to the episode then. I liked the monsters or the flood how they were called. When they looked at you with their blue eyes and water pouring out of their pores, they were quite scary. The story was alright but not as good as some of the other ones before. The idea that a human was setting time right instead of the Doctor was interesting. The mentioning of the Ice Warriors was also a nice bit in the episode and it made a connection with the pre 2005 episodes of Doctor Who. All in all, "The Waters of Mars" is a scary and interesting episode but there have been other ones that were better.

Easter Special: Planet of the Dead
Summary:
Lady Christina steals a valuable object from a museum but before the police can catch her she jumps onto a bus. The Doctor gets onto the same bus because he is following some strange readings. The police has sealed off a tunnel to stop the bus but the bus never reaches the end of the tunnel and ends up on an alien desert planet instead. There, the bus is stuck in the sand but they need it to return to Earth through the wormhole. On Earth, the police calls UNIT for help and soon they have sealed off the area and are ready to face whatever comes through the wormhole. When the Doctor notices a huge sandstorm coming closer he calls UNIT on Earth and together they try to bring the bus back. The Doctor and Lady Christina explore the planet and are captured by the Tritovores. Soon, they find out that these beings aren't dangerous and that they can help them to go back home. It becomes obvious that it's not a normal storm that's coming their way but an alien life form that can destroy whole planets. The Doctor can't save the Tritovores but with some of their technology he is able to bring the bus back to London and UNIT can close the wormhole. After saving the people, the Doctor leaves alone in his Tardis.
The Doctor really has fun in this episode and he has found an equal in Lady Christina. It's just fun to watch their banter but he is just not ready for another companion in his life after he has lost Donna and Rose. I'm also not sure if I would have liked Lady Christina to be a companion for more than one episode. For me, she is more a self-centred person than somebody who helps others. I don't know if it would have worked between her and the Doctor for a longer time. The swarm is a quite scary monster because they just eat everything that is in their way. They aren't evil but I think their natural habits make them scarier than some other monsters. The Tritovores are not the most beautiful aliens we have seen so far but they are quite interesting nonetheless. I like it that the Doctor has kind of more companions than the normal one in this special and they all work really good together. The moments when the Doctor finally meets the people from UNIT are great as well and it's nice that he helps Christina to escape in the end. One thing that's amazing is that they've filmed most of the stuff on the alien planet in a real desert which gives the episode a bigger scale.

Born Again: Children in Need Special
Summary:
The Doctor has regenerated into his tenth incarnation and Rose still can't believe that the Doctor is standing in front of her. He manages to convince her that he is really the Doctor and wants to take her to the planet Barcelona but something went wrong during the regeneration and so they head back to Earth.
This special episode for "Children in Need" is set in the Tardis and stars only the Doctor and Rose. It is a nice way to get a glimpse of the Tenth Doctor before the Christmas Special starts and to get used to the new face of the Doctor. I think it's a funny episode and David Tennant can show us what his Doctor will be like. The way he inspects himself and tries to get used to his body is brilliant and it's so cute to watch how he tries to convince Rose that he is still himself, even when his look has changed. A nice extra episode, which you don't need to watch to be able to follow the story but which is a nice little something for the fans.

What is so special about Doctor Who?
Have you ever asked yourself why Doctor Who is so special beside all the other TV shows out there?
I guess the first thing is that it has been there for such a long time now. In 2013 is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who and which series can claim that it was more or less constantly on TV for 50 years. Doctor Who is now a part of the British culture and I guess everyone who grows up in the UK knows at least what Doctor Who is.
Another thing for me is, that I like the mixture of great stories and even greater characters. The success of the series always depends on who plays the Doctor and who are his companions. That's a big part of it all. They could have brilliant stories but if the actors are rubbish nobody would watch the series.
And then there is the concept of time travelling which opens you a lot of doors. You can let the stories happen in the past, present or future and nobody can tell you this can't be real. They even reboot the universe sometimes and undo things that happened before this way. Everything is possible with Doctor Who.
There are probably a lot more reasons out there why Doctor Who is so special and I guess everybody has their own set of reasons.

The Weakest Link Doctor Who Special
I know it's already a couple of years ago but have you ever watched the special of "The Weakest Link" with a couple of Doctor Who actors. It is really fun to watch. I've put a playlist together with all the videos which were uploaded by Gemm42007 so you can watch the whole show in one go. Have fun watching it.
