Quotes from "A Day in the Death"

Owen: My name is Dr Owen Harper and this is my life. A life that is full of action and violence and work and wonder. Secrets and sex and love and heartbreak and death. My death. The death I survived. The death I am now living through. Except this isn't living. Every day is the same. I get up. Get ready for work, same as everyone else. The thing is, I'm not the same. I get to work and everyone's doing the same old thing. Babbling away about aliens and weddings. I'm not real. Three days ago, I died. And they think I'm fine, but they're wrong.

Owen: Yeah, I was brought back. Like Jesus really, but without the beard, you know. Shit, I'm never gonna have a beard. Not that I wanted one, you understand, but you know, one day I...

Maggie Hopley: If you are dead, then wh...why are you here. You can't be wanting to jump. You can't die twice.
Owen: Sorry, are you an expert?
Maggie Hopley: Sorry, are you an idiot?
Owen: Yeah, I'm a dead idiot.

Martha Jones: There is no sign of any muscle decay. You're in great shape, as ever.
Owen: No use coming onto me, Jones. I'm a changed man.
Martha Jones: And no stiffening anywhere?
Owen: Well...
Martha Jones: Just answer the question.

Maggie Hopley: So she offers to help you and you push her away. Charming.
Owen: Yeah, hole in the chest. Sorry if I don't follow social niceties any more.
Maggie Hopley: You mean you did before?
Owen: God, you're a pain in the arse, aren't you?

Owen: What exactly do I do when I get there?
Jack: Watch TV, chill.
Owen: Jack, I'm dead. I'm permanently chilled. You know you get to live forever. I get to die forever. It's funny that.

(Owen tries to drown himself without success)
Jack: Thirty six minutes, not bad.
Owen: You were watching?
Jack: Skinny guy in tight jeans runs into water? I was taking pictures.

Owen: Heat sensors. I am literally too cool for school.

Farrington: Okay, stop! Stop, or I'll shoot.
Owen: No, you won't. You're a security guard. That's gun just for show, isn't it? Do you know what a bullet does to a living person? It's not like a knife through butter. No, no, no, no. It rotates, tears into the flesh and the gooey stuff behind. Rips into the organs, ooh, it's not nice. But, anyway, I haven't got any body heat, you must know what that means. You can't kill a dead man.
Farrington: What are you?
Owen: I'm wrong.
Farrington: What are you?
Owen: I'm broken. I'm Dr Owen Harper. And I'm having one hell of a day.

Owen: Martha.
Martha Jones: Owen!
Owen: If it destroys me, they're going to need a new doctor. You've got all the credentials. Medical skills and a cracking arse.

Owen: We all assume that life's gonna be shit, don't we? That it's all just darkness. But you know what? Sometimes it's not.

Owen: Tosh, I'm scared. I'm scared that if I close my eyes, I'll get trapped. In the darkness.
Tosh: I'm here.

Maggie Hopley: What do I do now?
Owen: You've got a choice. If you think that the darkness is too much then go for it. But if there is a chance, just some hope... It could be having a cigarette, or that first sip of hot tea on a cold morning. Or it could be your mates. If there is even a tiny glimmer of light, then don't you think that's worth taking a chance?

Season 5 Episode 7: Amy's Choice

Summary:
Amy and Rory now live in a small and calm village and Amy is pregnant. One day the Doctor visits them by accident and they show him around. When they fall asleep on a bench, they are suddenly back in the Tardis and find out that they all had the same dream. Something is wrong in the Tardis but before they can find out what, they are back in the village. They flip back and forth between the Tardis and they don't know what is real anymore. Suddenly there is someone else in the Tardis who call himself the Dream Lord. He tells them that they have to decide which world is the real one or they die. In the Tardis, they are falling into a cold sun and start to freeze to death and in the village they are attacked by the old people who are aliens. It's up to Amy to choose which world is the dream and when Rory dies in the village, she knows how to decide. Are they in the real world now?

This is a great episode for the relationship between Amy, Rory and the Doctor. Here, Amy has to decide whom her heart belongs to and in the end she chooses Rory. That doesn't mean she won't flirt with the Doctor anymore but now we know who her true love is. The story is quite interesting because the Doctor and his companions have to find out what the real world is and what the dream and that is not an easy thing to decide. When you see that the old people in the village are aliens, that's a bit strange but it fits into the world of Doctor Who. This eye thing in their mouths is just a bit gross. I think the explanation in the end, that the Dream Lord was no one else as the Doctor is interesting. It has to be some of his darker parts which he normally prevents to bubble up. In this episode we can see that there is more to the Doctor than the eye can see, especially from his dark side which he doesn't show often.

Quotes from "Dead Man Walking"

Owen: You've stopped flirting with me. I mean, it's all right. I wouldn't flirt with me in my condition either, but... Is it still necrophilia if I'm conscious?

Owen: I'm a headless chicken. I just haven't stopped running about.

Martha: You had the power to bring people back to life and you never told UNIT. Why?
Jack: They would've wanted to use it.

(as Owen mass-vomits alcohol)
Jack: Oh! Oh, that is the single most disgusting thing I have ever seen, and I know disgusting.

Owen: But eventually that will stop too. I'll fart my last fart. God, I'm going to really miss farting. and sex.
Jack: Sex more than farting, I hope.
Owen: You take these things for granted. It's only when they're slipping away you realise how amazing they are. This could be the last time I see these flecks or, you know, feel these bricks underneath my hands.
Jack: "Only in suffering do we recognise beauty".
Owen: Yeah, yeah! Who said that?
Jack: Proust.
Owen: You've read Proust?
Jack: Yeah. Well, no. We dated for a while, he was really immature.
Owen: You know, none of us know whether to take you seriously when you say those things.
Jack: When you've lived as long as I have, you don't make any more up.

Owen: I can't sleep, I can't eat, and I can't shag. And they are three of my favourite things.
Gwen: Owen!
Owen: I'm not the same, Gwen. I came back different. Hollow. Like I'm missing something. And I do not want to be like this. Okay? I'm ready.

Ianto: I have searched for the phrase "I shall walk the Earth and my hunger will know no bounds", but I keep getting redirected to Weight Watchers.

Owen: Jamie, they got you in for a round of chemo, have they?
Jamie Burton: Had that, it didn't work.
Owen: So why are you here?
Jamie Burton: They're trying to make me have it again. It didn't work though, the cancer just comes back, just makes my hair fall out. I'm gonna die. I might as well do it with eyebrows.

Season 5 Episode 6: The Vampires of Venice

Summary:
The Doctor tells Rory that Amy has tried to seduce him, which makes Rory quite angry but then the Doctor takes him and Amy back in time to Venice. Shortly after their arrival, they witness a strange scene with a man who searches for his daughter in a bunch of pale girls. Interested, the Doctor runs off and starts to investigate what happens in Venice. Amy wants to help by going into the school but Rory is against it. As it is the only chance to find out what is going on, Rory can't say anything anymore and Amy goes into the school of Rosanna Calvierri. She opens a trap door for Rory and the Doctor but is taken to an underground room shortly afterwards by Rosanna and the girls. They want to turn her into one of them and now Amy know that they aren't facing vampires but aliens. Rosanna starts the transformation of Venice into a world under the ocean to give her family a new home. Can the Doctor stop her and save the people of Venice?

This is the first episode in which Rory travels with Amy and the Doctor and Amy isn't very happy about it first. Rory as addition in the Tardis brings some new conflicts with him because there is this connection between Amy and the Doctor and the fact that Amy and Rory are engaged. This leads to some great moments in this episode especially when the Doctor comes out of Rory's cake instead of a stripper. Rory also gives the Doctor some things to think about when he tells him that he makes people dangerous to themselves because they want to impress the Doctor. The story with the vampires is interesting but maybe not one of the best in the history of Doctor Who. It gives us some interesting facts about the cracks and it mentions the Silence again. "The Vampires of Venice" is a fun story with creepy alien fish and some tiles for the big puzzle.

Quotes from "Reset"

Jack: Suddenly, in an underground mortuary on a wet night in Cardiff, I hear the song of a nightingale. (Martha Jones enters) Miss Martha Jones.

Jack: Dr Jones is from UNIT.
Gwen: Oh, I'm sorry, sorry. I get a bit confused. Which one's UNIT?
Jack: Intelligence, military, cute red caps. The acceptable face of intelligence gathering on aliens. We're more ad hoc, but better looking.

Jack: me on, Martha. Be honest. You just came all this way to see me.
Martha: Still struggling to conquer your shyness, Jack?

Martha: God, I am so glad to see you, Jack.
Jack: See, you did come all this way to see me. It's the jaw line, once seen, always yearned for.

Jack: So do you think you can get me one of those red caps for personal use? I'm thinking Ianto might look good in it.

Gwen: Um, so... you know Jack pretty well, then?
Martha: Oh, we were only together for a few days, but it was pretty intense.
Gwen: You mean...
Martha: Oh, God, no, no! No! Not that sort of intense! No, nothing like that. Why, are you and him...
Gwen: No! No! Not at all!
Martha: We must be the only two people on the planet.
Gwen: I know. What are we doing wrong?

Owen: So you and Jack go back a long way?
Martha: Forward and back, really.

Jack: I'd rely on Martha if the world was ending. In fact I did.

(discussing Jack)
Martha: So am I right in thinking that you and he...
Ianto: We... dabble.
Martha: Yeah?
Ianto: Yeah.
Martha: So, what's his dabbling like?
Ianto: Innovative.
Martha: Really?
Ianto: Bordering on the avant garde.

Tosh: Ianto, what have you done with Billy Davis's body?
Ianto: Um, I was just about to dispose of it. Why?
Tosh: I thought of a way we can use him to get us into the Pharm. (shows Ianto her plan) Clever, huh?
Ianto: Oh, you are warped on the inside. How do you think of these things?
Tosh: I'll take that as a compliment.

Season 5 Episode 5: Flesh and Stone

Summary:
The Doctor, Amy, River and the Clerics have managed to get into the Byzantium but the Angels are close behind them. While they try to find a way out, Amy starts to count and nobody knows why she does it. They find the forest behind the secondary flight deck, which produces the oxygen for the ship. The Doctor talks to Angel Bob and find out through him that there is something in Amy's eye and that the Angels let her count to scare her. Soon the Weeping Angels have entered the flight deck when a crack appears in the wall that looks exactly like the crack in Amy's wall. With the Angels shortly distracted, everybody is able to flee into the forest but soon Amy feels bad and seems to die. The Doctor tells her, that there is an Angel in her head and it tries to come out but when she closes her eyes it freezes the Angel. He leaves her behind with some Clerics while he searches for the primary flight deck with River and Octavian. Octavian is caught by an Angel and tells the Doctor that River has killed someone and is in prison. Meanwhile, the crack comes closer and the Clerics who want to investigate it just vanish and Amy is alone in a forest with Angels surrounding her. Can the Doctor save her and does he trust River enough to help him?

The second part of this two-parter was somehow scarier because the Weeping Angels now look like real Angels. It's also the first episode where you can really see them move when they know that Amy can't see them, which looks really scary. In this episode we learn a bit more about the mysterious crack that first appeared in little Amy's wall. The Doctor finds out that it rewrites time and lets people forget about certain events or even persons. They just don't exist anymore because there is an explosion somewhere in time and space, that rips the whole universe apart. We also learn a bit more about River and that she is a prisoner because she killed someone. I guess it's a bit of a shock for the Doctor to hear this and he doesn't really know if he should trust her or not but she's River and you can't deny that there's a bond between them. "Flesh and Stone" is a really scary episode, which answers a couple of questions or at least gives you some hints. A great episode.

Quotes from "Adam"

Tosh: What's that.
Owen: It's a screen cleaner. I thought you might like it. Do you like it?
Tosh: Just what I need. A small rodent looking at me as I work. Think I'll call it Owen.

Ianto: I'll have a look in the diary. I like to log the interesting stuff.
Tosh: You write about artefacts in your diary?
Ianto: Among other things.

Owen: Because I love you.
Tosh: What?
Owen: Oh yeah, there we are, I've said it. I love you! Yes, I always have, actually, ever since we started working together and, in fact, um, actually, I ache for you. Physically, when you're in the room, I just want to reach out and touch you...
Tosh: Owen.
Owen: No, no, I can't keep the secret any more. My mum said to me "Seize the day", so I am seizing it and, you know, I've got so much love to give you, Tosh, and you know, you won't know that unless I tell you. So here I am, telling you that I love you!

Jack: Our memories define us, Adam changed those memories, he changed who we are. Now I have to help you all go back. Find a memory that defines you, rediscover who you are. If I'm wrong, he'll still be here when we've done this. Let me take you back to before we all met. Feel around for anything that makes you what you are. The hidden and the forgotten. Tell me where you are.

Gwen: I love him. But not in the way I love you.
Jack: Take this.
Tosh: Knowing there has to be more to life than this. Knowing I'm special. Waiting for someone to see it.
Jack: I saw it.
Owen: You save one life, 100 lives, but it's never enough. Who'll save me?
Jack: I will.
Ianto: Coming here... it gave me meaning again. You. (Jack kisses him)

Jack: Found your diary.
Ianto: Yep, been looking for that.
Jack: And for the record, measuring tapes never lie.

The Twelfth Doctor is here!

Probably all of you know that Peter Capaldi will be the Twelfth Doctor but I wanted to share my thoughts about him.
I think, my first thought when I saw him was "Wow, he's really quite a bit older than Matt" but that doesn't have to mean anything. At the moment, I can't really visualize him as the Doctor because there are still two specials with Matt to come. On the other hand, that leaves us enough time to get used to the thought that he'll be the next Doctor. I think it will be different when they've found the right costume for him and everything.
One thing that bothers me though is how they want to explain that he has appeared in Doctor Who and Torchwood already. I wonder if they'll give an explanation at all but we will probably know more when the time is there.

Season 5 Episode 4: The Time of Angels

Summary:
The Doctor take Amy to a museum where they find a home box with a message for the Doctor on it. When they look at the recordings on the box, they see River Song who gives the Doctor some coordinates. The Doctor pilots the Tardis to River's coordinates and arrives on time to get her out of space. With a little banter between them, River follows the Byzantium with the Tardis and soon the land on Alfava Metraxis where the other ship has crashed. River calls for reinforcement and soon Father Octavian and his men from the church are on the planet as well. They tell the Doctor that a Weeping Angel was on board of the Byzantium and that they have to find and possibly destroy it. Against his will, the Doctor helps them but when he and River leave Amy alone with an image of a Weeping Angel, the image becomes an Angel. Amy manages to freeze the image but something is wrong with her eye. After that, they all enter the labyrinth of the dead but soon some of the soldiers go missing and the Doctor notices that all of the statues are Weeping Angels. Are the able to escape the labyrinth?

I just love the episodes with River Song in them and the banter between her and the Doctor. It's always great to see how they react when they meet each other and now the Doctor knows at least who she is. Here we see that she is a prisoner but the Doctor doesn't know about that yet. River is still a bit of a mystery because we don't know how she is connected to the Doctor. I guess Amy could be correct with her assumption that she is the Doctor's wife. The Weeping Angels are back again in this episode. They are some of my favourite monsters although they are quite scary and seem to be more dangerous than the ones we saw in "Blink". Here they kill people and don't just send them back in time to feed of their energy. The last few moments of this episode are a huge cliffhanger when the Angels close in on the Doctor and the others and we just don't know what's going to happen next. Well, we will see in the next episode.
