Series 2 Episode 3: School Reunion
Summary:
Mickey has told the Doctor and Rose about strange things going on in a school and so the Doctor works there as a teacher and Rose in the canteen. The Doctor is quite surprised when Sarah Jane Smith crosses his way and starts her own investigations at the school. First she doesn't recognise him because he has regenerated since they last met but then they are both happy to see each other again. Rose is a bit jealous because of the relationship of Sarah Jane and the Doctor but they have other things to think about. The headmaster and a big part of the staff are bat-like aliens who use the children to solve a puzzle, which would give them the power over time. Can the Doctor stop them with a little help of his companions and K9?
This is the first time where Rose is confronted with a former companion of the Doctor and she sees what he does to the people who travelled with him. Sometimes the people decided that they don't want to travel with him anymore but more often they either die or he leaves them behind like he did with Sarah Jane. Rose has to deal with the thought that the Doctor will leave her behind one day and will never return. This episode has some great emotional moments especially when the character of Sarah Jane Smith comes back and when the Doctor tells Rose that she can spend her whole life with him but not the other way round. In moments like this you can also see that being a Time Lord is a burden most of the times. It's funny to see similarities between Mickey and K9 but I'm also glad that he got some space in the series to evolve from Mickey, the idiot, to a very brave man and good character. A great reunion episode, which connects the old Doctor Who episodes with the new ones.

YouTube and the Copyright issue
Sometimes I'm really annoyed when I want to watch a Doctor Who or Torchwood video on YouTube and get the message: "Due to copyright issues the video is not available in you country. We are sorry!" (Or something like that)
One problem here in Germany is definitely the GEMA which wants money from YouTube for certain music titles etc. and that's a reason why I can't watch a lot of the videos because it has a music title which is restricted here. I always ask myself why it's possible to use the music in the US and they just add the iTunes download link but not here. Here they have to block the whole video or sometimes only the sound which is even worse. The additional "We are sorry!" isn't really helpful then.
It's the same with the blocking of TV show uploads and then blocking channels of users. I know it's illegal to upload this stuff but it's normally the only chance I get to watch the episodes when they are not broadcast in your own country and I don't have the money to buy all the DVDs. Sorry. But I'm also not one who downloads the episodes illegally I just want to watch them which is still a kind of grey zone on the internet.
I always ask myself why they are allowing uploads of copyrighted stuff in the first place and don't have a kind of filter so that these things don't get online at all and they have to block users later. Well, I guess I won't see the rest of K9 which I really enjoyed and I don't know if I like it that much to buy the DVDs.

Tidbits
I only have some tidbits for you today.
My timeline is now a bit longer but I still haven't added anything about Torchwood or the K9 series. The dates of the first Doctor Who series are added to the timeline and most of the Sarah Jane Adventures. Your help is still appreciated.
I'm also still looking for more birthday dates. I haven't found anyone for August yet. So if you have any birthday dates of actors from the Doctor Who universe please leave a comment.

Summer break nearly over
Now we can already see the end of the summer break before us with a date when Doctor Who shall be aired again. I'm not sure if the 26th of August is the date for the US or UK or both but maybe someone can enlighten me there.
I think Torchwood saved me from falling into the deep Doctor Who free hole which opened beneath everybody this summer. I really enjoy the series so far and in a while there will be the double dose of Torchwood and Doctor Who. So don't plan anything else for these evenings.
Up till now I have also caught up with the episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures but sadly we won't be able to see more than 6 episodes because of the too early death of Elisabeth Sladen. But I think it's better to leave the series like this because nobody could replace Liz in her role as Sarah Jane Smith. The last episodes are scheduled for late October or November this year.
When you have read my post from yesterday you will have noticed that I started to watch the series K9 as well and I really enjoy it but it you know that it's more for children when you watch it. But nontheless it is still a way to get over the summer break without Doctor Who.

K9
Thanks to Tardis Newsroom I came into contact with the K9 series which is filmed in Australia but still belongs into the Doctor Who universe.
I have to admit I really like the series although it is more for children like the Sarah Jane Adventures. Sometimes I think the single episodes are a bit short because the are only around 20 to 30 minutes but it's really something you can watch in between and I like the design of the new K9.
It would be nice to have a connection to Doctor Who in the series on day but that is probably difficult because it's produced in Australia. Well, I think I will enjoy the episodes which I haven't seen yet and maybe I open an episodeguide for this series as well.
Something totally different now. I have discovered Sherlock for me. I've missed the first episode of series one but I liked the second very much. Great work Mr Moffat!
