Christmas Special: The Runaway Bride

Summary:
The Doctor has just lost Rose but suddenly a bride appears in his Tardis and he doesn't know how she got there. Donna finds out soon, that the Doctor is an alien and demands that he brings her back to her wedding. They land in London but nowhere near the church and Donna takes a taxi to get there. The Doctor sees that the taxi is driven by a robot Santa, which he knows from last Christmas and knows that Donna is in great danger. He saves her from the taxi and gives her a bio damper, so nobody is able to find her. The Doctor brings Donna to her reception but soon the robot Santas appear again and he finds out that she has huon particles in her, which also brought her into the Tardis. Donna and Lance accompany the Doctor to their working place and the find a secret passage that was build by Torchwood. Under London's flood barrier they find a hole and come in contact with the Racnoss. Lance works for the aliens and he was the one who gave Donna the huon particles. What do the Racnoss want and can the Doctor save himself and Donna?

Donna is just the perfect person for the Doctor to meet after he has lost Rose. She is feisty and a mystery to him and that is exactly what he needed. You feel a bit sorry for Donna because the guy she wants to marry doesn't love her and has used her as a key for the aliens but she is a person who will get over this. It's just not her thing to live in the past and even if she's a bit dumb from time to time she often hits the nail on the head with what she's saying. The Doctor needs people like Donna to tell him when he has to stop, people who say it's enough when he fights someone. The spaceship of the Racnoss is perfect for Christmas because it looks like a star and supports the Christmas feeling a bit. I think it's quite cute when the Doctor lets it snow for Donna just to let her feel a bit more Christmassy. It's an interesting idea that a Racnoss ship is the core of earth and that earth only exists because of this ship. In this episode we also get the first hint about Harold Saxon, who will play a big role in series 3.
