Happy Birthday, John and Alex!

Today we can celebrate the birthdays of two Doctor Who actors, John Barrowman and Alex Kingston.
John Barrowman is a Scottish-American actor whom we all know as Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood. He has been in many movies and TV series but also on stage in musicals or theatre plays. John is a singer as well and now writes books together with his sister Carole.
Alex Kingston is a British actress whom we know as River Song, Amy's and Rory's daughter in Doctor Who. Alex has been in many TV series and movies but one of her biggest roles besides Docto Who was in ER. Currently she has a role in "Upstairs, Downstairs" but she can be seen on stage in different plays as well.
Happy Birthday, John and Alex.

John Barrowman in Outlander movie?

I don't know if you guys know the "Outlander" book series by Diana Gabaldon but I really love it and someday - hopefully soon - there shall be a movie of the first book.
If you want to know more about the series, just follow this link. The books are historical novels which are set in Scottland (at least the first ones, the later ones play in America) around the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie. They include romance, time travel, Scottish history and great characters you can only fall in love with.

Now to the reason why I would tell you about these books on my Doctor Who blog: I would love to see John Barrowman in this movie. Not as the main character Jamie Fraser because he should have red hair but maybe as Dougal McKenzie or some other guy from this side of Jamie's family.

Here are some points why he should be in the movie:

  1. He is a great actor which definitely qualifies him for a role.
  2. He is Scottish, so there wouldn't be a problem with the accent.
  3. I would love to see him in a historical movie.
  4. And the last but most important point: He looks great in a kilt!

So please give him a role in this movie!

What kind of things fans send to their favourite stars

I don't know if you have read this interview of John Barrowman where he talked about what kind of things his fans send him via mail. I really don't understand the people who send them their panties or ask John to send them some of his own. In my opinion that's just stupid.
It is alright if you're sending them a letter, ask for an autograph or send pictures (no, not the kind of pictures with you sparsely clothed) or drawings and things like that. I just think there should be a limit to what kind of things you send an actor you like. Maybe some of them like it but I think most of them don't.

Have you ever written a letter to an actor you like? Or have you send him/her something?
I think in the time of Facebook or Twitter it's easier to communicate with your stars because a lot of them are online themselves and are happy to answer your questions.
So tell me what you think about this and if you have sent something spectacular to one of your stars.
