The Cloister Room

There are dozens of Doctor Who podcasts out there but the only one I recently started listening to is "The Cloister Room". As they say in their subtitle Tom and Louis' podcast is "A Podcast About Doctor Who and Other Things. New episodes Weekly. Ish.".
I think the first episode of their poscast which I listened to was "Damned Spot" and I really loved the comments and the discussion about the episode and what they think comes next and so on. I have to admit that I skipped some of the podcasts in between but I have listened to all new ones from "Riverlation" onwards. When I feel like it I will download some older podcasts as well.
I don't know it's kind of nice to do something online like updating my blog here or checking mails and listen to the guys talking about Doctor Who at the same time. I guess I like their humour and their speculations about what happens next. Don't ask me why but I think they somehow have calming voices (at least for me) and it's really nice to hear voices sometimes (the sort of voices which aren't in your head - no, I'm not crazy). Oh, and it trains my English skills as well, so thanks guys for this fun podcast.
For all of you who want to listen to "The Cloister Room" as well just follow the link.
Well, that's all from me for today. Now I'm going back to waiting for the next Torchwood and Doctor Who episode.

Quotes from "Tooth and Claw"

Today I have quotes from the episode "Tooth and Claw" from the second series for you.

Father Angelo: We will take the house.
Steward: Would you like my wife while you're at it?
Father Angelo: If you won't stand aside, then we'll take it by force.
Steward: By what power? The hand of God?
Father Angelo: No. The fist of man.

Captain Reynolds: You will explain your presence... and the nakedness of this girl.
The Doctor: (in a Scottish accent) Are we in Scotland?
Captain Reynolds: How can you be ignorant of that?
The Doctor: Oh, I'm-I'm dazed and confused. I've been chasing this, this wee naked child over hill and over dale. Ain't that right, ya... tim'rous beastie?
Rose: Uh-uh... och aye, I've been oot and aboot...
The Doctor: (whispering in normal accent) No, don't do that.
Rose: Hoots mon!
The Doctor: (still whispering) No, really don't. Really.

Rose: I want her to say, "We are not amused." I bet you five quid that I can make her say it.
The Doctor: Well, if I gambled on that, it'd be an abuse of my privilege as a traveler in time.
Rose: Ten quid?
The Doctor: Done.

The Doctor: (examining the Torchwood telescope) It's a bit rubbish. How many prisms has it got? Way too many. The magnification's gone right over the top, that's a stupid kind of a... (aside to Rose)am I being rude again?
Rose: Yep.
The Doctor: But it's pretty! It's very ... pretty.

The Host: Look, inside your eyes, you've seen it too!
Rose: Seen what?
The Host: The wolf, there's something of the wolf about you!
Rose: I don't know what you mean.
The Host: You burnt like the sun, but all I require is the moon!

The Doctor: (to the werewolf; excitedly) Oh, aren't you beautiful!

Father Angelo: We have waited so long for one of your journeys to coincide with the moon.
Queen Victoria: Then you have waited in vain. After six attempts on my life... (takes out a pistol) I am hardly unprepared.
Father Angelo: Oh, I don’t think so, woman.
Queen Victoria: The correct form of address is "Your Majesty." (shoots)

The Doctor: (to Rose) The front door's no good, it's been boarded shut. (to Queen Victoria) Pardon me, Your Majesty, you'll have to leg it out of a window.

Rose: What do we do?
The Doctor: We... run!
Rose: Is that it?
The Doctor: You got any silver bullets?
Rose: Not on me, no!
The Doctor: Your Majesty, as a doctor, I recommend a vigorous jog. Good for the health!

Sir Robert: Did you think there was nothing strange about my household staff?
The Doctor: Well, they were bald, athletic, your wife's away. I just thought you were happy.

The Doctor: (to Queen Victoria) You'd call it a werewolf, but technically it's more of a lupine wavelength haemovariform.

The Doctor: (to Sir Robert) Oh, your father got all the brains, didn't he?
Rose: Being rude again.
The Doctor: Good, I meant that one.

The Doctor: You want weapons, we're in a library. Books! Best weapons in the world. This room is the greatest arsenal we can have.

Rose: Is that the Koh-i-noor?
The Doctor: Oh yes. The greatest diamond in the world.
Queen Victoria: Given to me as the spoils of war. Perhaps its legend is now coming true. It is said that whoever owns it must surely die.
The Doctor: Well, that’s true of anything if you wait long enough.

Rose: (seeing the Koh-i-noor diamond) Good job my mum's not here, she'd be fighting the wolf off with her bare hands for that.
The Doctor: And she'd win.

Queen Victoria: (To the Doctor) By the power vested in me by the church and the state, I dub thee Sir Doctor of TARDIS. (To Rose) By the power vested in me by the church and the state, I dub thee Dame Rose of the Powell Estate.

Queen Victoria: I have rewarded you, Sir Doctor, and now you are exiled from this empire never to return. I don’t know who you are, the two of you, or where you’re from but I know that you consort with stars and magic and think it fun. But your world is steeped in terror and blasphemy and death, and I will not allow it. You will leave these shores and you will reflect, I hope, on how you came to stray so far from all that is good and how much longer you may survive this terrible life. Now, leave my world and never return!

Queen Victoria: I saw last night that Great Britain has enemies beyond imagination, and we must defend our borders on all sides. I propose an institute to investigate these strange happenings, and to fight them. I will call it "Torchwood." The Torchwood Institute. And if this Doctor should return, then he should beware, because Torchwood will be waiting!

Series 6 Episode 8: Let's kill Hitler

It is so amazing that Doctor Who is back and I really loved the new episode. I'm still excited from watching it and here are my thoughts. Don't read any further when you haven't watched the episode yet.

Summary:
Amy and Rory write a note into a cornfield to contact the Doctor who turns up but then they are joined by Mels and old friend of Amy and Rory. They have to run and Mels shoots the Tardis which crash lands in Hitler's office. Flashbacks show that Amy and Rory know Mels their whole life and have spent quite a lot of time with her. Rory locks Hitler in a cupboard after he shot a robot with tiny people inside but Mels was shot as well. Everyone is surprised when she regenerates and turns into River Song. She poisons the Doctor and Rory and Amy go after her. They are beamed into the robot and the people inside want to torture River for killing the Doctor. Amy saves her daughter and she saves her parents from the robot with the help of the Tardis. The Doctor dies but is revived by River who gives him her remaining regeneration energy.

This episode was bloody brilliant Mr. Moffat. Thank you so much!
Now we know more about River Song and how she became River Song. It is still open why she lands in prison but I think the Doctor knows by now who will kill him and if it's River or not. I think it is still possible that she killed Rory and that's the reason why she is in prison. I loved the moment when Rory locked Hitler in the cupboard. Just brilliant. But there has to be something good in Melody/River because she saved the Doctor and didn't just let him die. And now we also know from whom River got her blue notebook. I can't wait for the next episode.
You can watch it online here.

Doctor Who continues tonight with "Let's kill Hitler"

And after Torchwood Doctor Who continues tonight with the episode "Let's kill Hitler". A video to get you into the mood.

Torchwood: Miracle Day: End of the Road

Not so many action scenes but I like it and I can't wait for the end to come. As always don't read on when you haven't seen the episode yet.

Summary:
Jack and the others go with Angelo's granddaughter but it's a bit of a shock for Jack to see Angelo as an old man. They are interrupted by a CIA agent who works for the families and who wants to kill Rex but he is arrested when the other CIA agents come. They also arrest Angelo's granddaughter but the car explodes and all are dead. Now Torchwood works together with the CIA but everything gets worse when Angelo dies in a world where nobody can die. Gwen is sent back to Wales after they discover alien technology in the floor but Jack can't really explain what it is. He escapes from the house with Esther but will he survive being shot?

I have to say I like both the action scenes and the calm moment between the different characters in Torchwood. It was nice to see that Jack had the chance to meet with Angelo again and maybe even make peace with a part of his past. We know a bit more about the families now and have seen some of the people who belong to them but we still don't really know what their motives are. Is it just that they wanted immortality or is it something else. I guess it can never be that simple with Torchwood. Finally we also have some alien technology which I have missed a bit in the last episodes. So, maybe they are using alien technology for all of this. Well, I guess we will see what happens next soon.

John Barrowman in Outlander movie?

I don't know if you guys know the "Outlander" book series by Diana Gabaldon but I really love it and someday - hopefully soon - there shall be a movie of the first book.
If you want to know more about the series, just follow this link. The books are historical novels which are set in Scottland (at least the first ones, the later ones play in America) around the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie. They include romance, time travel, Scottish history and great characters you can only fall in love with.

Now to the reason why I would tell you about these books on my Doctor Who blog: I would love to see John Barrowman in this movie. Not as the main character Jamie Fraser because he should have red hair but maybe as Dougal McKenzie or some other guy from this side of Jamie's family.

Here are some points why he should be in the movie:

  1. He is a great actor which definitely qualifies him for a role.
  2. He is Scottish, so there wouldn't be a problem with the accent.
  3. I would love to see him in a historical movie.
  4. And the last but most important point: He looks great in a kilt!

So please give him a role in this movie!

Quotes from "New Earth"

Today I start with quotes from series 2 and therefore some from the Tenth Doctor era.

Rose: So where we going?
The Doctor: Further than we've ever gone before.

Rose: Can I just say, traveling with you, I love it.
The Doctor: Me too!

The Doctor: Strictly speaking it's the fifteenth New York since the original. So that makes it New, New New New, New New New New New New, New New New, New, New York. (Rose stares at him) What?
Rose: You're so different.
The Doctor: New New Doctor.

The Doctor: Nice place. No shop, downstairs. I'd have a shop. Not a big one--just a shop. So people can shop.

Rose: What about the skin? I saw it. You got ripped apart.
Cassandra: That piece of skin was taken from the front of my body. This piece is the back.
Rose: Right, so you’re talking out of your ar...
Cassandra: ...ask not.

Novice Hame: (about the Face of Boe) I can hear him singing sometimes. In my mind. Such ancient songs.
The Doctor: Am I the only visitor?
Novice Hame: The rest of Boe-kind became extinct long ago. He’s the only one left. Legend says that the Face of Boe has watched the universe grow old. There’s all sorts of superstitions around him. One story says that just before his death, the Face of Boe will impart his great secret. He will speak those words only to one like himself.
The Doctor: What does that mean?
Novice Hame: It’s just a story.
The Doctor: Tell me the rest.
Novice Hame: It’s said he will talk to a wanderer… a man without a home… a lonely God.

Matron Casp: Primitive species would accuse us of magic. But it’s merely the tender application of science.
The Doctor: How on Earth did you cure him?
Matron Casp: How on New Earth, you might say.

Cassandra (in Rose): The Sisterhood are up to something. Remember that Old Earth saying? Never trust a nun. Never trust a nurse. And never trust a cat.

The Doctor: When you took your vows, did you agree to this?
Novice Hame: The Sisterhood had sworn to help.
The Doctor: What? By killing?
Novice Hame: They're not real people. They're specially grown. They have no proper existence.
The Doctor: What's the turnover, hmmm? Thousand a day? Thousand the next? Thousand the next? How many thousand? For how many years? How many?!?

The Doctor: If they live because of this, then life is worthless.
Novice Hame: But who are you to decide that?
The Doctor: I'm The Doctor. And if you don't like it, if you want to take it to a higher authority: there isn't one. It stops with me.

The Doctor: Hold on, I can understand the bodies, I can understand your vows. One thing I can't understand, what have you done to Rose?
Novice Hame: I don't know what you mean.
The Doctor: And I'm being very, very calm. You wanna be aware of that, very very calm. And the only reason I'm being so very, very calm is that the brain is a delicate thing. Whatever you've done to Rose's head, I want it reversed.

Cassandra (in Rose): Over the years, I thought of a thousand ways to kill you, Doctor. And now that's exactly what I've got. One thousand diseases.

Cassandra (in the Doctor): Goodness me, I'm a man. Yum! So many parts! And hardly used... ah.. ah! Two hearts! Oh, baby, I'm beating out a samba!
Rose: Get out of him.
Cassandra (in the Doctor): Ooh, he's slim. And a little bit foxy. You've thought so too. I've been inside your head...You've been looking... you like it!

The Doctor: You were supposed to be dying.
The Face of Boe: There are better things to do today. Dying can wait.

YouTube and the Copyright issue

Sometimes I'm really annoyed when I want to watch a Doctor Who or Torchwood video on YouTube and get the message: "Due to copyright issues the video is not available in you country. We are sorry!" (Or something like that)
One problem here in Germany is definitely the GEMA which wants money from YouTube for certain music titles etc. and that's a reason why I can't watch a lot of the videos because it has a music title which is restricted here. I always ask myself why it's possible to use the music in the US and they just add the iTunes download link but not here. Here they have to block the whole video or sometimes only the sound which is even worse. The additional "We are sorry!" isn't really helpful then.
It's the same with the blocking of TV show uploads and then blocking channels of users. I know it's illegal to upload this stuff but it's normally the only chance I get to watch the episodes when they are not broadcast in your own country and I don't have the money to buy all the DVDs. Sorry. But I'm also not one who downloads the episodes illegally I just want to watch them which is still a kind of grey zone on the internet.
I always ask myself why they are allowing uploads of copyrighted stuff in the first place and don't have a kind of filter so that these things don't get online at all and they have to block users later. Well, I guess I won't see the rest of K9 which I really enjoyed and I don't know if I like it that much to buy the DVDs.

Torchwood: Miracle Day: Immortal Sins

That was a bloody great episode and I loved it. I feel we are getting closer to why the miracle happened now. Well, I guess we should be because it is only 3 episodes left till the finale. When you haven't seen the episode yet, stop reading now.

Summary:
Someone has kidnapped Gwen's family and now she has to bring Jack to them. During their drive Jack remembers his time in America in 1927 when he met Angelo, a man from Italy, who becomes his companion. Together they kill an alien parasite but then Jack is shot and Angelo thinks he is dead. Jack comes back to life but Angelo is in prison. They meet again a year later and Angelo kills Jack because he thinks he is the devil. Different people torture Jack and he dies over and over again and then there are this three strange man who make an agreement of some kind. Jack leaves without Angelo. In the present the moment arrives when Gwen has to hand over Jack but then everything changes.

I really loved this episode because it showed so much of Jack's past and that Gwen is willing to sacrifice everything to save her family. So Angelo has something to do with the whole miracle but we still don't know what and why. Maybe it's all about getting old with Jack or revenge because he has left him. I don't see any other possibilities at the moment. It's an episode where we don't see a lot of Rex and Esther but they are a bit like guardian angels for Jack and Gwen and help them in the background. Well, Torchwood is together again but for how long? I really don't know if Jack will go with this woman who was played by Nana Visitor. It's good to see her again. Who are the three men who made a bargain when Jack was tortured? They definitely have something to do with everything because they formed a triangle with their hands which is quite familiar to us now. I'm really looking forward to the next episode. Torchwood has picked up speed again.
You can watch the episode online.

Miracle Day Trailer Episode 7

It's trailer time again for the seventh Torchwood episode "Immortal Sins". It will give you a glimpse of the new episode.

18 August 2011

Soon, very soon

The broadcast moment of the next Doctor Who episode is so close now and there is already so much stuff about "Lets kill Hitler" online, that I can't wait for it to start.
It has been a long time without Doctor Who but at least we had Torchwood in between to watch something from the Whoniverse. I know that some people aren't happy about Torchwood and say that it's too American now but I think everyone has to decide that for themselves. I guess it's helpful when you don't live in the UK like me and you don't notice the Britishness that much.
Well, back to Doctor Who then. I think there is still no official broadcast date set for the UK (it's the 27th as well) but the one for the US is the 27th of August. Now I really want to know if the Doctor is able to find Melody and if it's really him who was killed in "The Impossible Astronaut" or if it was his Ganger. The trailer for the second half of the series suggests that we will find out soon. I think it will be a great finale for this series and then everybody can look forward to Christmas then.
I'm really excited now and the only thing that I want to do is watch the next Doctor Who episode and know what happens next.

Poll results

Well, not a lot of participants for my last poll.

My question was, who's your favourite Torchwood character. It seems that Gwen and Jack are on top of your list but the others are following shortly behind. No, I didn't include Ianto in this poll.
I don't know what to ask at the moment so I will skip the poll for now until I stumble over a nice question.

Quotes from "The Christmas Invasion"

It's not Christmas but today you'll get some quotes from the first Christmas special "The Christmas Invasion".

Rose: Both working.
Jackie Tyler: What do you mean, both?
Rose: Well, he's got two hearts.
Jackie Tyler: Oh, don't be stupid.
Rose: He has.
Jackie Tyler: He has.Anything else he's got two of?

Jackie Tyler: I'm gonna get killed by a Christmas tree!

The Doctor: My head, argh, I'm having a neuron implosion. I need...
Jackie Tyler: What do you need?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Just say! Tell me, tell me.
The Doctor: I need..
Jackie Tyler: Painkillers? Aspirin?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Codeine, paracetamol? Oh, I don't know, Pepto-Bismol?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Liquid paraffin? Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E!
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Is it food? Something simple. Bowl of soup? Nice bowl of soup? Soup and a sandwich? Oh, soup and a little ham sandwich?
The Doctor: I need you to shut up.
Jackie Tyler: Oh, he hasn't changed that much, has he!?!

The Doctor: We haven't got much time. If there's pilot fish then... why is there an apple in my dressing gown?
Jackie Tyler: Oh, that's Howard's, sorry.
The Doctor: He keeps apples in his dressing gown?
Jackie Tyler: He gets hungry...
The Doctor: What, he gets hungry in his sleep?
Jackie Tyler: Sometimes.

Harriet Jones: Harriet Jones, Prime Minister.
Danny Llewellyn: Well, yes, I know who you are.

Daniel Llewellyn: You seem to be talking about alien lifeforms as a matter of fact.
Harriet Jones: There's an Act of Parliament banning my autobiography.

Danny Llewellyn: But if they're not from the surface, then they might not be from Mars itself. Maybe they're not actual Martians.
Major Blake: Of course not. Martians look completely different.

Major Blake: The President is insisting that he takes control of the situation.
Harriet Jones: You can tell the President, and please use these exact words; he's not my boss and he's certainly not turning this into a war.

Mickey Smith: Tea. Like we're having a picnic while the world comes to an end. It's very British.

Alex Klein: (translating) "The yellow girl, she has the clever blue box. Therefore she speaks for your planet."
Harriet Jones: But, she can't!
Rose: Yeah, I can.
Mickey Smith: Don't you dare.
Rose: Someone's got to be the Doctor.
Harriet Jones: They'll kill you!
Rose: It never stopped him. I, um...I address the Sycorax... according to... article fifteen of the Shadow Proclamation. I command you to leave this world with all the authority of... the Slitheen Parliament of Raxicoricofallapatorius and, um... the Gelth Confederacy... as, uh, sanctioned... by the Mighty Jagrafess and... ooh, the Daleks! Now, leave this planet in peace!

The Doctor: Now, first things first. Be honest. How do I look?
Rose: Umm... different.
The Doctor: Good different or bad different?
Rose: Just... different.
The Doctor: Am I...ginger?
Rose: No, you're just sort of brown.
The Doctor: (disappointed) Oh, I wanted to be ginger. I've never been ginger! And you, Rose Tyler, fat lot of good you were. You gave up on me. Oh, that's rude. Is that the sort of man I am now? Am I rude? Rude and not ginger.

The Doctor: Look at these people. These human beings. Consider their potential. From the day they arrive on the planet and, blinking, step into the sun, there is more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than... no, hold on. Sorry, that's The Lion King. But, the point still stands. Leave them alone!

The Doctor: Not bad for a man in his jim-jams. Very Arthur Dent. Now, there was a nice man.

The Doctor: (quietly to himself; after killing the Sycorax leader) No second chances. I'm that sort of man.

The Doctor: Don't challenge me, Harriet Jones! 'Cause I'm a completely new man! I could bring down your government with a single word.
Harriet Jones: You're the most remarkable man I've ever met, but I don't think you're quite capable of that.
The Doctor: No, you're right. Not a single word. Just six.
Harriet Jones: I don't think so.
The Doctor: Six words.
Harriet Jones: Stop it.
The Doctor: Six. (He walks over to Alex) Don't you think she looks tired?

Jackie Tyler: Well, I reckon you'r mad. The pair of you. Its like you go looking for trouble.
The Doctor: Trouble's just the bits in between! It's all waiting out there, Jackie. And it's brand new to me. All those planets, creatures, and horizons, I haven't seen them yet. Not with these eyes. And it is gonna be... fantastic!

Torchwood: Miracle Day: The Middle Men

I just finished watching the episode "The Middle Man" and it has definitely some really nice explosions in it. For all of you who haven't watched the episode yet and don't want to know what happens, please stop reading now.

Summary:
Rex had to watch how Vera was burned alive in one of the modules. After that the overflow camp goes into lock down and Rex and Esther can't get out. Rex tries to flee but he is caught and nearly "killed" by the one who killed Vera before but Esther can save him. Jack tries to find our more about the people who are behind the miracle but he only finds the middle men who can't tell him anything. Meanwhile Gwen tries to get her father out of the overflow camp in Wales which she manages with the help of Rhys. Before she returns to L.A. she blows everything up but she is confronted with a not so pleasant surprise when she's back in America.

Not a lot of Jack moments in this episode but when he is on screen we can see his charming side again even when he threatens someone to get information. We now know hat is behind the overflow camps but Torchwood is unable to do something against them because the can't do anything against politicians. Sounds somewhat familiar, doesn't it. It seems now that PhiCorp is not behind evereything and that they are just "Middle Men" as well who get profit from the miracle. I loved the moment between Jack and Gwen when she blows up the overflow camp and he says, "That's my girl." But I also like the moments between Esther and Rex who helps her to cope with everything. A calmer but also great episode.
You can watch the episode online here.

Tidbits

I only have some tidbits for you today.

My timeline is now a bit longer but I still haven't added anything about Torchwood or the K9 series. The dates of the first Doctor Who series are added to the timeline and most of the Sarah Jane Adventures. Your help is still appreciated.

I'm also still looking for more birthday dates. I haven't found anyone for August yet. So if you have any birthday dates of actors from the Doctor Who universe please leave a comment.

You still have some time to vote for your favourite Torchwood character.

What kind of things fans send to their favourite stars

I don't know if you have read this interview of John Barrowman where he talked about what kind of things his fans send him via mail. I really don't understand the people who send them their panties or ask John to send them some of his own. In my opinion that's just stupid.
It is alright if you're sending them a letter, ask for an autograph or send pictures (no, not the kind of pictures with you sparsely clothed) or drawings and things like that. I just think there should be a limit to what kind of things you send an actor you like. Maybe some of them like it but I think most of them don't.

Have you ever written a letter to an actor you like? Or have you send him/her something?
I think in the time of Facebook or Twitter it's easier to communicate with your stars because a lot of them are online themselves and are happy to answer your questions.
So tell me what you think about this and if you have sent something spectacular to one of your stars.

Quotes from "The Parting of the Ways"

It's time for some quotes again today. This time I have some from the last episode of the first series for you.

Dalek 1: You know the Doctor. You understand him. You will predict his actions.
Rose: I don't know! And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you!
Dalek 1: Predict. Predict! PREDICT!
Dalek 2: TARDIS detected, in flight.
Dalek 1: Launch missiles! Exterminate!
Rose: You can't! The TARDIS hasn't got any defenses! You're going to kill him!
Dalek 1: You have predicted correctly.

Jack: The extrapolator's working. we've got a fully functional forcefield. Try saying that when you're drunk.

Jack: One minute, they’re the greatest threat in the universe, the next minute they vanished out of time and space.
The Doctor: They went off to fight a bigger war. The Time War.
Jack: I thought that was just a legend.
The Doctor: I was there. The war between the Daleks and the Time Lords, with the whole of creation at stake. My people were destroyed, but they took the Daleks with them. I almost thought it was worth it. Now it turns out they died for nothing.

The Doctor: It's all right, come on out. That forcefield can hold back anything.
Jack: Almost anything.
The Doctor: Yes, but I wasn't gonna tell them that, thanks.
Jack: Sorry.

The Doctor: Do you know what they call me in the ancient legends of the Dalek homeworld? The Oncoming Storm. You may have removed all your emotions, but I reckon right down deep in your DNA there's one little spark left, and that's fear. Doesn't it just burn when you face me? So tell me, how did you survive the Time War?
Emperor Dalek: They survived through me.

Jack: It’s been fun, but I guess this is goodbye.
Rose: Don’t talk like that! The Doctor’s gonna do it. You just watch him.
Jack: Rose. You are worth fighting for. (kisses her) I wish I’d never met you, Doctor. I was much better off as a coward. (kisses him) See you in Hell.

The Doctor: There's another thing the TARDIS could do. It could take us away. We could leave; let history take its course. We go to Marbella in 1989.
Rose: Yeah, but you'd never do that
The Doctor: No, but you could ask. Never even occurred to you, did it?

The Doctor: If I'm very clever--and I'm more than clever, I'm brilliant--I might just save the world. Or rip it apart.
Rose: I'd go for the first one.
The Doctor: Me, too.

Rose: I want you safe... my Doctor. Protected from the false god.

Rose: I can see everything. All that is...all that was...all that ever could be.

The (Ninth) Doctor: (his final words) And before I go, Rose...before I go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And d'you know what? So was I.

The Tenth Doctor: (his first words) Hello. New teeth...that's weird. Now, where was I? Oh, that's right... Barcelona!

Favourite Torchwood Characters

Who is you favourite character in Torchwood or do you have more than one?

I think I still stick with the original characters of Jack, Gwen and Rhys. I especially like the quite moments which they share together and the past they have. They are characters you somehow just have to like.
I start to like the new characters of Rex and Esther as well but they are still new and you don't know a lot about them. Sometimes I find Gilly quite funny but she is not an easy character to like. It's somehow the same with Oswald. He is not a very likeable and I just can't get warm with him.

Well, what about you? Do you have a favourite Torchwood character? (Yes, I know you all like Ianto but I'm only talking about living persons at the moment.) So leave me a comment or vote in my poll who is your favourite Torchwood character at the moment.

Torchwood: Miracle Day: The Categories of Life

My first thought after I have watched this episode is "Oh my god. Are they really doing this?"
Following are a summary of the episode and my thoughts about it, so don't read further when you haven't watched the episode yet.

Summary:
Gwen flies back to Wales to get her Dad out of the overflow camp and Vera joins Torchwood after the government has decided about the different categories of life and which people have to be sent into the camps.
Rex gets into a camp and gets classified as a category on patient with a little help of Esther to investigate what the modules are. He doesn't know that Vera also got into the camp as an inspector. Gwen tries to get her Dad our of the camp in Wales with the help of Rhys but her father gets another heart attack and she can't get him out. Jack tries to get Oswald onto his side but is not successful.

It was really cool to see all the stuff about the camps and how they work. Gwen is back at home and it was so cute to see her, Rhys and Anwen reunited. I really don't know what I shall think about Oswald and his personal motives for all this stuff he is doing. But I didn't think he would help Jack in any way but at least Jack had to try to do something when the others are all doing stuff that is too dangerous for him. This episode definitely had a twist at the end and we now know exactly what they are doing with the category one patients. I'm still asking myself too what PhiCorp gets out of all this and who is behind everything. I really loved the moment between Jack and Rex when the loaded Rex into the ambulance to get him into the camp. Brilliant. That's really the mixture that makes Torchwood special.
You can watch it online here.

Summer break nearly over

Now we can already see the end of the summer break before us with a date when Doctor Who shall be aired again. I'm not sure if the 26th of August is the date for the US or UK or both but maybe someone can enlighten me there.
I think Torchwood saved me from falling into the deep Doctor Who free hole which opened beneath everybody this summer. I really enjoy the series so far and in a while there will be the double dose of Torchwood and Doctor Who. So don't plan anything else for these evenings.
Up till now I have also caught up with the episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures but sadly we won't be able to see more than 6 episodes because of the too early death of Elisabeth Sladen. But I think it's better to leave the series like this because nobody could replace Liz in her role as Sarah Jane Smith. The last episodes are scheduled for late October or November this year.
When you have read my post from yesterday you will have noticed that I started to watch the series K9 as well and I really enjoy it but it you know that it's more for children when you watch it. But nontheless it is still a way to get over the summer break without Doctor Who.

K9

Thanks to Tardis Newsroom I came into contact with the K9 series which is filmed in Australia but still belongs into the Doctor Who universe.
I have to admit I really like the series although it is more for children like the Sarah Jane Adventures. Sometimes I think the single episodes are a bit short because the are only around 20 to 30 minutes but it's really something you can watch in between and I like the design of the new K9.
It would be nice to have a connection to Doctor Who in the series on day but that is probably difficult because it's produced in Australia. Well, I think I will enjoy the episodes which I haven't seen yet and maybe I open an episodeguide for this series as well.

Something totally different now. I have discovered Sherlock for me. I've missed the first episode of series one but I liked the second very much. Great work Mr Moffat!

Quotes from "Bad Wolf"

Today I have some quotes from the episode "Bad Wolf" for you. Enjoy!

Zu-Zana: Just stand still and let the defrabricator work its magic.
Captain Jack: What's a defabricator? (Jack's clothes disappear) Ah a defrabricator, does exactly what it says on the tin. Am I naked in front of millions of viewers?
Trin-E and Zu-Zana: Absolutely!
Captain Jack: Ladies, your viewing figures just went up.

Anne Droid: So, tell me, Rose, what do you do?
Rose: Um, well, I just travel about, bit of a tourist, I suppose.
Anne Droid: So you're unemployed
Rose: No!
Anne Droid: Have you got a job?
Rose: Well, not really, no...
Anne Droid: Then you're unemployed. And yet you still have enough money to buy peroxide.

The Doctor: I can’t open it.
Lynda: It’s got a deadlock seal. Ever since Big Brother 504, when they all walked out. You must remember that.
The Doctor: What about this?
Lynda: Oh, that’s exoglass. You’d need a nuclear bomb to get through.
The Doctor: Don’t tempt me.

The Doctor: Lynda, you're sweet. From what I've seen of your world, do you think anybody votes for sweet?

Captain Jack: Well, ladies, the pleasure was all mine. Which is the only thing that matters in the end.

The Doctor: Do you mind flirting outside?
Captain Jack: I was just saying hello.
The Doctor: For you that's flirting.

Female Programmer: If you’re not holding us hostage, then open the door and let us out. The staff are terrified!
The Doctor: That’s the same staff who executes hundreds of contestants every day?
Female Programmer: That’s not our fault. We’re just doing our jobs.
The Doctor: And with that sentence, you just lost the right to even talk to me. Now back off!

Dalek: We have your associate! You will obey or she will be exterminated!
The Doctor: No.
Dalek: Explain yourself!
The Doctor: I said no.
Dalek: What is the meaning of this negative?
The Doctor: It means no.
Dalek: But she will be destroyed!
The Doctor: No! 'Cause this is what I'm going to do: I'm going to rescue her! I'm going to save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet, and then I'm going to save the Earth, and then, just to finish off, I'm going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky!
Dalek: But you have no weapons! No defences! No plan!
The Doctor: Yeah! And doesn't that scare you to death? Rose?
Rose: Yes, Doctor?
The Doctor: I'm coming to get you!

Dalek: Alert! ALERT! We are detected!
